General Information

Millions of men and women worldwide suffer form unsightly veins, blood vessels and other benign vascular lesions. In some cases, the problem is just cosmetic in nature, however for others, the unwanted leg veins pose a real threat requiring high attention. It is estimated that over 60% of the population suffer from varicose veins and spider veins:

  • Varicose veins are enlarged blood vessels that widened due to a weakness in the vein wall or a problem with the valves, which control the blood flow.
  • Spider veins are the small, superficial purple or red veins stretching like a web under the skin. Overexposure to the sun is believed to contribute to the dilation of spider veins, especially those found on the face.

Until recently, the treatment of varicose and spider veins was a long and painful procedure that involves needles and other invasive procedures. Nowadays, new non-invasive light-based therapies are used in treating various types of unsightly veins.
